Practice Information

Chaperone
A chaperone is available to patients both for doctors and nurses for intimate/sensitive physical examination. Patients would be offered a chaperone as appropriate. Please feel free to request this service if you feel necessary.

Privacy
Our reception is an open counter, but if you need to talk to the receptionist confidentially, this can be arranged for you.

Computerisation
The practice keeps your medical records on computer and are kept confidential in line with Data Protection Legislation.

GP Training
The practice is now an approved training practice. This means that from time to time we will have a GP registrar working with us. The registrar is a qualified doctor who has been working in hospital and now wishes to gain experience in general practice. There may
be occasions when you will be offered an appointment with a registrar.

Locum Doctor
The practice uses locum doctors to ensure that surgery sessions are covered. You may be asked to see a locum doctor at holiday times/sickness.

Welfare Rights Worker
George Downs works at the Health Centre on a part time basis. Our aim is to increase the uptake of benefits for our patients. Further information can be obtained by telephoning 01623 742420 or calling in at the Shirebrook Health Centre.

Private Medicals
Medical examination for HGV and PSV licences, and for pre-employment are not paid for by the NHS. Examinations of this nature can be quite lengthy and therefore a fee has to be charged. A special appointment will be required and the fee is payable by the patient at the time of the examination. Examinations for Life Insurance companies will also need a special appointment. The fee in this case is usually payable by the Life Insurance company concerned.
